Area description:
The practicum will take place within the Amadeus Research and Technology (ART) team. Our mission includes delivering models and algorithms for the travel industry, to explore emerging technologies and to test new tools in those fields, in particular AI and Machine Learning. The team is composed of researchers, data scientists and innovation managers specialized in different fields, including statistical analysis, operations research and data science. In the context of the practicum, the intern will be mentored by experts on intensive computing and data practitioners. They are heavily involved in the problems submitted to interns and they provide them with strong experience in technical and industrial implementation of the proposed methods.
Project description:
The student will explore the latest capabilities of state-of-the-art language models to generate text, in particular those coming from OpenAI. The objective of the internship is to study how these models can interact with Amadeus proprietary data, and to leverage current solutions thanks to generative AI.
Accountabilities:
Main accountabilities for the internship are:
- Review recent large language models (LLM) releases and know their pros / cons.
- Understand the LLM limitations in the Amadeus ecosystem, under a specific application.
- Implement an AI prototype, integrating all different elements as an automated pipeline.
- Run performance and evaluation tests
- Communicate the findings and recommendations to team members and other stakeholders.
- Stablish some best practices for the use and development of large language models in Amadeus.
- Document project evolution
Learning:
- Global understanding of how Amadeus is driving the future of travel.
- Data and software development within a travel tech company.
- In depth knowledge of large language models: architecture, infrastructure needed and cloud deployments
- Software engineer tools and best practices
- Cloud experience: Azure and AWS mainly
- Project planning: estimation of effort and timings
- Improve writing skills for internal documentation and project report(s).
- Improve presentation skills to technical and business-oriented audiences.
Requirements:
Must:
- Programming in Python (and basic data science libraries)
- Data Science basics: data processing, metric computations
- Large Language Models / generative AI basic concepts
- Being able to work autonomously
- Creative and problem-solving mindset
- Fluent English
Nice to have:
- Version control systems (eg. Git)
- SQL
- Research experience
- Cloud experience (preferably Azure)
Please note that the duration of the internship will be 6 months and may be extended for a further 6 months.
